NHS Lanarkshire has completed all first doses of the covid-19 vaccination and is now moving to a mop-up phase and focusing on second doses.

Dr Mark Russell, Lead for the covid-19 vaccination programme in Lanarkshire, said: “Everyone in Lanarkshire who is eligible for a vaccination should now have been offered a first dose. This is a massive achievement for everyone involved and I would like to thank our staff and our local communities for getting us this far.

“But it’s not over and covid-19 is still here. We are continuing to see an increase in the number of cases, so we want to make sure as many people as possible are vaccinated. To ensure local people have access to vaccination clinics, we are now running more drop-in clinics across Lanarkshire.”

The drop-in clinics are open from 9am to 5pm in our seven local centres and every day from 8.30am to 7.30pm in Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility, Motherwell and the Alistair McCoist Complex in East Kilbride. From 12 July the drop-ins in our two large centres will run from 12noon to 8pm to provide more clinics in the evening.

They are open to anyone aged 18 or over who needs first dose and for those who need a second dose and it’s been eight weeks or more since their first dose.

Due to the move to more local centres the dedicated vaccination shuttle bus from Cumbernauld to Ravenscraig will stop running from 12 July. From this date all appointments and drop-in clinics is this area will be at Muirfield Community Centre.

The shuttle bus from Motherwell train station to Ravenscraig will continue to run throughout the summer, as this is a local centre for people in that area.

Information for all drop-in clinics is published on our website at www.nhslanarkshire.scot.nhs.uk/covid-19-vaccine/#clinics This page is updated regularly. Details are also published daily on our social media channels (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram).

Dr Russell, added: “We want to make it as easy as possible for people to be vaccinated. There are many reasons why people may have missed their first dose – they aren’t registered with a GP or they may have changed their minds, but we want them to come along now. It is also important to attend for both doses to achieve maximum protection against the Delta variant and for long-lasting protection.”
