Do you know someone worthy of recognition?
There are pharmacy heroes all around us. But often they can be humble, acting on the behalf of others without favour, and so their stories remain untold.
The Scottish Pharmacist Awards is Scotland’s most prestigious, playing a fundamental role as a vehicle to celebrate and acknowledge the remarkable contribution and achievements of pharmacy individuals and teams.
They provide you with an opportunity to recognise deserving colleagues and/or peers.
If someone has inspired you through their dedication, innovation or leadership, show them how important their work is by nominating them for a Scottish Pharmacist Award.
eHealth & Innovation in Pharmacy Practice
As its name suggests, the eHealth & Innovation in Pharmacy Award’s principal aim is to reward innovation by using technology to promote quality, safety and efficiency in healthcare within community pharmacy.
This Award identifies individuals and teams working within community pharmacy in Scotland whose ideas or inventions have, or could lead to, improvement in the patient experience in all areas of care throughout their community.
Pharmacy Team Member of the Year
Open to Community and Hospital Pharmacy Team Members
The Pharmacy Team Member of the Year Award seeks those outstanding Non-Pharmacist individuals who have made a significant contribution to community/hospital pharmacy in Scotland.
This Award recognises excellence in knowledge and/or service to pharmacy retail customers and patients.
Pharmacist of the Future
The Pharmacist of the Future Award is open to all students in the 3rd or 4th year of their MPharm at either the University of Strathclyde or Robert Gordon University in Scotland.
Do you have what it takes to be named the Pharmacist of the Future? Perhaps you have made a significant contribution to your university through engagement with local groups and organisations? Or have demonstrated the confidence and capability to talk with schools and community forums about pharmacy services? Or become involved with wider health promotion?
Community Pharmacy Team of the Year
This Award strives to recognise pharmacies who have worked collaboratively on a project or in the general workings of the pharmacy and can demonstrate a significant contribution to either patient care, business growth or the local community.
The Pharmacy Team may include, pharmacists, medicines counter assistants, dispensing assistants and technicians, superintendent pharmacists, pharmacy managers and pre-registration trainees.
Hospital Pharmacy Team of the Year
This category is open to all hospital pharmacy teams working in the hospital sector in Scotland to include:
Independent Prescriber of the Year
Being an independent prescriber allows pharmacists to prescribe medicines within their areas of competence. This Award aims to reward the pharmacist for enhancing the level of care they provide and the ability to make professionally autonomous decisions while working in collaboration with nurses, GPs and others.
The pharmacist must demonstrate first and foremost that they are patient facing in their role, and are included in both the decisions and governance of practice prescribing to improve patient care. Pharmacist input could be sessional or full time, and could be achieved with both generalist and specialist input using primary, community or secondary care pharmacists working in/with the practice, according to local needs.
Pharmacy Business Development
The Pharmacy Business Development Award targets pharmacies looking to improve their local community by enhancing health promotion, supporting skills, training and employment; or creating a better working environment. It will honour those business owners who have taken their companies, teams and results to ‘the next level’ of success.
Management of Long Term Conditions
The Chronic Medication Service is one of the core elements of the community pharmacy contract in Scotland. Pharmacists are now tasked with care planning and sometimes serial dispensing for patients, putting them at the front of patient care. For the first time patients with long-term chronic conditions are now primarily managed by pharmacists on a national scale.
We want to recognise a pharmacist or pharmacy team which has embraced the Chronic Medication Service, and which will have delivered continuously high-quality care, with evidence of improved outcomes for individuals. Are you or do you know someone who is excelling in delivering CMS?
Pharmacist of the Year
The Pharmacist of the Year Award recognises a community pharmacist who demonstrates leadership and exemplifies the evolution of the pharmacy profession toward an expanded role in health care.
The winner will demonstrate significant contributions to the pharmacy industry overall resulting in meaningful improvements in the quality of patient care and improved delivery models and pharmacy’s role on the health care team.
Outstanding Contribution to Pharmacy
Outstanding Contribution to Pharmacy showcases and celebrates achievement among the pharmacy sector in Scotland.
As well as highlighting the ever increasing contribution pharmacists make to the wider healthcare arena, this accolade is aimed at identifying appropriate role models to inspire and motivate others.
This Award is aimed at finding and recognising an individual who has had a sustained career, which has not only had a very significant contribution to the pharmacy sector, but also has been an inspiration to peers.
The recipient will be a figure who has had most impact on the pharmacy profession and is likely to have impacted on the working lives of most pharmacists over the course of the year. The winner will have shown evidence of leadership, determination and clarity of thought.
